Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with NHS experience to join the Specialist Weight Management and Bariatric service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The role involves dietetic assessment, nutritional diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients in Tier 3 and 4 services. The successful candidate will manage their own patient caseload, including complex presentations, and work within national and Trust guidelines. The post can be offered as a Band 6 or a Band 5 to 6 progression.
Essential criteria
- oDegree in Nutrition and Dietetics (pending qualification will also be considered) oHCPC registration (pending registration will also be considered)
Desirable criteria
- oBDA member oClinical supervisory skills student training course
- oRecently qualified as a registered dietitian (or due to qualify) oExperience of caseload management and delivering a project (either during placement or since qualifying) oExperience of group and individual dietetic sessions including preparation, delivery and evaluation
- oPost qualification dietetic experience including experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team oExperience in clinical supervision of student dietitians oExperience gained in audit and / or service review
- oUp to date dietetic knowledge acquired through degree qualification oAwareness of best practice in dietetics oAware of the format of pre-registration placement for dietitians oAware of the different communication needs within a culturally diverse community and how this may impact on professional practice
- oAble to communicate with clients using dietary counselling, motivational and negotiation sills oAble to anaylse information and make judgements on dietetic issues oAble to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds without risk of misunderstanding oAble to plan and prioritise own caseload using time management skills - with support when needed oKeyboard skills oFlexible approach and willingness to adapt to change

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with NHS experience and an understanding of Tier 3 and 4 services to join our Specialist Weight Management and Bariatric service at UHCW.
We are able to offer the post as band 6 if the applicant meets the specification, or we can consider an band 5 to 6 progression for the right candidate. Please review the band 5 and 6 job descriptions/person specifications. Progression to band 6 if appointed as a band 5 will be based on completion of a competency framework.
Note: the role will mainly involve on site working - at University Hospital Coventry, Hospital of St Cross and Coventry City Centre community venues.
Job role:
- To carry out dietetic assessment appropriate to role and experience, provide nutritional diagnosis and provide a dietetic treatment plan for patients/clients.
- To hold responsibility for own patient caseload including patients with complex presentations
- Maintain clinical records in line with local/Trust documentation guidelines
- To liaise with dietetic colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team as necessary e.g. Medical, nursing and other health care professionals
- To work within National and Trust policies/guidelines; and HCPC and BDA standards and codes of conduct
- To have a solid understanding of national and local standards and able to monitor own practice against these
