Role summary
This role is for a dynamic and compassionate registered nurse to work as a Learning Disability Liaison Nurse within the Health Facilitation Service. You will support adults with learning disabilities accessing acute hospital services, ensuring high-quality, holistic care. The position involves working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to reduce health inequalities. The role is split between Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Essential criteria
- oRNLD/ RGN
- oDemonstrate current registration NMC
- oEvidence of formal post registration learning
- o Clinical experience at band 5 or equivalent
- Knowledge and Understanding
- oWorking Knowledge of Clinical Risk Assessment
- oUnderstanding of professional and current issues in learning disabilities nursing in acute areas
- oUnderstanding of the health needs of people with learning disability and the health inequalities of people with a learning disability
- oFactual knowledge of the wider NHS and local agendas including the learning disability work plan
- oFactual knowledge of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues
- oWorking Knowledge of equality and diversity
- Skills and Abilities
- oExcellent communication, verbal and written skills
- oAbility to work across traditional boundaries
- oProven change management and service development ability
- oAbility to negotiate and influence different disciplines and grades of staff
- Attributes and Qualities
- oAble to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a Team.

An opportunity has arisen with the Acute Liaison Nurses of the Health Facilitation Service, which is part of the Learning Disability Service in Bedfordshire and Luton, East London Foundation NHS Trust. (ELFT)
The role will be split between Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable in accordance with service demands.
Main duties of the job
The role is suitable for a dynamic and compassionate registered nurse who is committed to supporting the needs of adults with a learning disability who are accessing the services within an acute hospital setting either as an inpatient, an outpatient or planned admission.
You will need to be passionate about ensuring a high-quality, holistic approach to the health care and support provided to people with learning disabilities, in the acute care environment. You will be required to work autonomously and as part of a wider team and deliver on projects reducing health inequalities.
