Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Assistant Cardiac Physiologist to join the busy Cardiac Physiology Department. You will assist in timely, efficient, and safe delivery of Cardiology procedures, including undertaking 12 lead ECGs and fitting Ambulatory ECG monitors. The position also involves providing assistance to senior team members and managing stock levels. Full training will be provided to enable you to perform diagnostic tests within the Cardiology Department.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the timely, efficient and safe delivery of Cardiology procedures.
- Undertake 12 lead ECGs.
- Fit patients with Ambulatory ECG monitors.
- Provide assistance to senior members of the team where needed.
- Undertake ordering and audit stock levels.
Essential criteria
- GCSE/A LEVEL in Science, English and Maths.
- Understanding of a range of routine and non-routine work procedures, base level theoretical knowledge. Knowledge of range of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties acquired through training, experience to Vocational Qualification Level 3 equivalent level
- Proven work experience dealing with public in a customer service environment.
- Experience using Microsoft software. Word/Excel.
- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of range of routine and non-routine cardiac science assistant duties (ECG and Holter fitting) acquired through training, experience to Vocational Qualification Level 3 equivalent level
- Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy
- Able to work within the limits of own competence and levels of responsibility and accountability within the work team
- Able to prioritise and organise workload to provide quality care to patients
- Able to recognise situations when a more senior member of staff is required
- Effective communication skills
- Able to work well in team environment.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
Desirable criteria
- Working towards SCST proficiency exam/SCST Cardiology Exam
- Basic and/or Intermediate Life Support
- Health Service Experience.
- Previous experiences with record keeping/admin.
- Ability to recognise life threatening arrhythmias
- Previous experience as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experiences with record keeping.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach techniques
- Involvement with supporting staff training

You will be involved in all aspects of the non-invasive Cardiology Department and will be expected to assist in the timely, efficient and safe delivery of Cardiology procedures.
You will be involved in undertaking 12 lead ECGs, fitting patients with Ambulatory ECG monitors and providing assistance to senior members of the team where needed.
In addition to this, you will be expected to undertake ordering and audit stock levels as part of their role.
