Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Support Worker on St Non Ward, an Older Adult Mental Health Ward in Haverfordwest. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing direct nursing care, monitoring physical health, and supporting the assessment process for older adults with complex mental health needs. The successful applicant will engage in various interventions with patients under the guidance of registered nurses. This position requires working flexibly within a shift system, including nights, to provide 24-hour cover.

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Nursing Support Worker, Band 3 on St Non Ward which is an Older Adult Mental Health Ward in Haverfordwest.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in an acute assessment in-patient setting and will demonstrate dynamic and innovative practice for the care of older adults with complex mental health needs.

The Nursing Support Worker is a vital part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the patients' assessment and treatment pathway in several vital ways.

The successful applicant will be working under the guidance of registered nurses.

The Nursing Support Worker will be expected to engage in a variety of interventions with patients, ranging from direct nursing care, working in accordance with observation and engagement policies, monitoring physical health and supporting the assessment process to enable holistic care for the patient.
