Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The 22-bedded acute ward specialises in trauma and orthopaedics and is integrated within the level 2 Trauma Unit. The role is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced staff nurses interested in developing skills in this specialty. The vision is to be a centre of excellence, and the successful candidate will contribute to achieving this goal.

- Evidence of further continued professional development
- ENB 998 or equivalent
- Ability to resolve conflict and disputes, in a non confrontational manner
- Previous experience as shift/team leader
- Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
- Good communication skills: written and verbal
- Competency in IV drug administration.

Main duties of the job
- Supervises the work of the nursing team, ensuring individual programmes of care are formulated accordingly to patient needs and current research/guidelines.
- Undertakes the assessment of patients including risk assessments e.g Waterlow and falls assessments
- Ensures planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively taking into account the views of the patient and their relatives.
- Ensures plans of care are implemented and updated as appropriate.
