Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Op Courage Team Leader within the Southwest Op Courage Veterans Mental Health Service, covering Devon and Cornwall. The service provides a complete care pathway for veterans with mental health problems, delivered by a Multi-Disciplinary Team. The postholder will lead operational management, ensure safe service delivery, and contribute to service redesign. The role involves a hybrid working model with clinical appointments delivered face-to-face or virtually.
Essential criteria
- Relevant education to degree level or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience of developing and implementing new ways of working and procedures.
- Experience of managing complex caseload/workload demands.
- Ability to manage teams and individuals in a complex and changing environment.
- Excellent communication skills including influencing, negotiation and empathic skills.
- Independently mobile and willing to travel.
- Able to demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, clinical settings and psychosocial interventions.

The Southwest Op Courage Veterans Mental Health Service operates across the entire Southwest and has an admin base in Weston-Super-Mare. The service, one of six national NHS England commissioned Op Courage services, is delivered by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. This role will cover Devon and Cornwall so the postholder will need to live within this area; however, on occasions, it may be necessary to work outside your normal area to support service delivery.
Op Courage provides a complete care pathway and is delivered by a Multi-Disciplinary Team. The pathway starts with a comprehensive needs-led conversation and is followed by evidence-based interventions/treatment for a wide range of need and complexity, from the early signs of mental health problems through to complex mental health difficulties and psychological trauma.
The service is delivered via a hybrid model which includes using clinical spaces, hot-desks and homeworking. Clinical appointments are delivered face to face or virtually, so some lone working will be required. The postholder will also
