Role summary

This is a unique opportunity for a Community Respiratory Diagnostics Nurse to deliver diagnostic spirometry services to clients of Change Grow Live (CGL) Coventry, a drug and alcohol treatment provider. The role involves conducting clinics at CGL Coventry to diagnose respiratory conditions and provide management advice. This innovative project aims to tackle health inequalities by reaching vulnerable individuals who typically do not engage with primary or secondary care, increasing early diagnosis and reducing drug-related deaths. The post holder will integrate across primary and secondary care, with support from clinicians at CGL, the Community COPD Service, and Respiratory Physiology department at UHCW.

Essential criteria

  • oRegistered Nurse with current UK Professional Registration (NMC registered) oEvidence of continuous professional development oExperience in performing spirometry and willingness to complete ARTP accreditation for this role if successful in gaining the role (accreditation will be supported by Respiratory Physiology UHCW). oStudy at level 7 (masters level) oRelevant Spirometry qualification, or willingness to undertake.

  • oProfessional clinical experience in appropriate speciality. oAbility to successfully manage people and change. oExperience in Audit.

  • oA knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice. oA sound knowledge of professional policies and procedures oKnowledge of clinical governance & a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development.
  • oA good understanding of current issues relating to the NHS. oExperience in Policy/Service Development
  • oIT skills oManage a patient caseload. oAbility to work independently and flexibly. oAbility to work in a clinic or patients home environment. oPatient focused. oExcellent communication skills oAble to prioritise and meet deadlines effectively. oGood management of own and others time oAble to use initiative and make decisions. oAnalyses problems and implements effective and appropriate solutions.

Job summary

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to deliver diagnostic spirometry to the clients of Change Grow Live (CGL) Coventry, the commissioned drug and alcohol treatment provider. The successful post holder will conduct clinics in CGL Coventry to diagnose respiratory conditions and advise accordingly on their management. The innovative project is paving the way for tackling health inequalities and bringing care to the most vulnerable within society. This trailblazing project, funded by the ICB (Integrated Care Board), enables us to deliver care to those who typically do not engage with primary or secondary care, aiming to increase early diagnosis and reduce drug related deaths. The post holder will integrate across primary and secondary care. Support to be successful in this role will be provided by clinicians at CGL and the Community COPD Service and Respiratory Physiology department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
