Role summary
This role is for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse to join Luther King Ward, providing high-quality, recovery-focused acute inpatient care. The successful candidate will manage the delivery of quality care, lead clinical practice, and act as a positive role model to junior staff. The position involves supporting professional development, ensuring safe and effective nursing procedures, and placing service users' needs at the centre of care delivery. The ward will soon relocate to the new New Douglas Bennett Hospital at Maudsley Hospital.

- SLTP training
- Evidence of continuing professional development

- Experience of managing clinical practice at Band 5 for 2 years
- Experience of implementing and monitoring standards of care
- Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive practice
- Experience of managing non-clinical staff and other professionals
- Experience of staff performance management
- Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices
- Specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the service, including evidence-based practice
- Knowledge of Managing patient flow and leading on patient flow initiatives
- Working knowledge of all relevant legislation associated with acute mental health care, including MHA, CPA procedures, Human Rights Act, NSF, Child Protection and NHS Plan
- Knowledge of performance management procedures

- Ability to present ideas with clarity and in a persuasive and influential style

All inpatient wards in Lambeth Hospital will be moving to our new location at Maudsley Hospital, in New Douglas Bennett Hospital, soon. Our new spacious and thoughtfully designed ward prioritise patient safety while promoting meaningful connections between staff and patients.
Our multi-disciplinary team is dynamic and diverse, consisting of RMNs, Clinical Support Workers, an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Doctors, and an experienced Consultant. Together, we work collaboratively to support patients on their journey to recovery. We also offer patients access to psychology and art therapy, enriching their therapeutic experience.
Main duties of the job
To have management responsibility for the delivery of Quality care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
The Clinical Charge Nurse role is suitable for Registered Nurses who have successfully completed preceptorship and have registered as an approved NMC mentor.
