Role summary
This role is for a compassionate and motivated Nurse Team Leader to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities across four Special Schools in East & North Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will coordinate and lead a nursing team at allocated school sites, providing direct care, advice, and training to school staff and families. The position involves working collaboratively within an education setting to ensure a supportive learning environment and responding to emergency needs.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead the nursing team at an allocated school site.
- Provide support to the wider special school nursing team.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, school staff, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide advice and support to families and education staff.
- Deliver training and competency assessments to education staff.
- Be flexible and respond to emergency needs as they arise.
Essential criteria
- RN Child/RSCN/ LD with specific CYP experience
- Mentor Preparation
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
- Experience of staff leadership
- Evidence of professional development
- Experienced Clinical Nurse
- Experience of working with children and young people with special needs
- Experience of teaching others
- Ability to work well in stressful situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Board range of clinical skills

This role is to cover the team leader role at Lonsdale School, Stevenage for 3 days a week and Greenside School, Stevenage for 1 day a week, term time only.
We are a flexible and supportive team and will consider a full time/non term time position and school working hours. The post will involve working across the four special schools within East & North Hertfordshire.
