Role summary
The Specialist Gynaecology Nurse will support the delivery and development of the Gynaecology Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) and Faster Diagnosis pathway. This involves specialist telephone triage and assessment, directing patients to appropriate diagnostic pathways, and supporting the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard. The role includes running nurse-led outpatient hysteroscopy clinics for diagnostic assessment and treatment, providing advice on investigations and medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes. This role aims to reduce delays and enhance patient experience for those with suspected gynaecological cancer.
Essential criteria
- First level degree or equivalent in the undergraduate base profession
- NMC or HCPC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development. (including further level 7 modules that support practice.)
Desirable criteria
- Masters in Advance Practice or equivent which maps across 4 pillars.
- Qualified as a non- medical prescriber
- Post graduate management and / or leadership training
- Post graduate Hysteroscopy course
- Has a knowledge of Gynaecology cancers
- Understanding of faster diagnosis and 28 day cancer target,
- History taking and triage skills
- Understanding of post Menopausal bleeding pathways
- Education

Job summary
The Specialist Gynaecology Nurse will support the delivery and development of the Gynaecology Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) and Faster Diagnosis pathway, ensuring patients receive timely, coordinated and high-quality care from referral through diagnosis and onward management.
The post holder will undertake specialist telephone triage and assessment, using clinical expertise and national guidance to direct patients to the most appropriate diagnostic pathway and support the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard.
The role will include nurse-led outpatient hysteroscopy clinics for diagnostic assessment and treatment, including pipelle biopsy, patient assessment and e-consenting. The post holder will provide clear advice on investigations, medications, results and follow-up, while supporting patients sensitively throughout the diagnostic process.
Working with Gynaecology Oncology, Cancer Services, MDT coordinators and the wider multidisciplinary team, the Specialist Nurse will support effective pathway coordination, clinical decision-making and service improvement, helping reduce delays and improve patient outcomes.
The post may be offered as a developmental role, depending on experience and skills, including completion of the Bradford Nurse Hysteroscopy Course and associated competencies.
