Role summary
This Senior Recovery Practitioner role is for a Band 6 professional with a minimum of three years' experience in Recovery or Intensive Care. The position involves leading a Theatre Recovery team, providing perioperative patient care, and ensuring effective communication within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work across four recovery areas, requiring flexibility for various shifts, and will contribute to teaching, career progression, and excellent patient care. The role also includes managerial and leadership responsibilities, such as deputising for the Theatre Recovery Manager and supporting staff development.
Essential criteria
- RGN/Diploma
- Post-registration qualification /equivalent in recovery/critical care nursing
- Teaching / mentoring and assessing
- Broad range of clinical experience
- Participated in quality/service development
- Participation in staff management
- Basic knowledge of financial management in the clinical area
- Knowledge of professional and NHS issues.
- Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying understanding and relatives as appropriate
- Able to present written information in a logical manner
- Excellent observation skills
- Ability to implement! manage change
- Effective leadership skills
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships
- Able to manage own workload, co-ordinate the work of others
- Able to support and supervise others
- Able to work without supervision
- Able to lead and manage difficult! emergency situations effectively
- Able to impart knowledge and skills in the clinical setting
- Basic IT skills in word processing and spreadsheets

Part time
Applicants must have a minimum of three years' experience in Recovery or a comparable setting, such as Intensive Care (ITU), to be considered for this position. Aintree site has 20 operating theatres across four departments which cover a wide variety of surgical specialties. Liverpool University Foundation Hospital is part of the Major Trauma Centre Collaborative (MTCC), a partnership between Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and is the regional Major Trauma Centre for the North West, providing the full range of services and clinical expertise for patients who are severely injured from all areas of the region.
The departments include:
- Main A theatre consisting of 7 Theatres, Recovery and Surgical Forward Wait
- Main B Theatre consisting of 5 Theatres, Recovery and Surgical Forward Wait
- Main C Theatre, Recovery and Surgical Forward Wait areElective Care Centre Theatres - consisting of 4 Theatres, 2 Treatment Rooms, Recovery, Day Ward and Surgical Forward Wait
