Role summary

Compton Ward, an 18-bedded surgical ward for general surgery, urology, and non-complex T&O patients, is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Registered Nurse. The role involves active participation in the nursing team, delivering high standards of patient care, and demonstrating knowledge of surgical conditions. The successful candidate will support the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient care within Trust and directorate pathways. This is a fixed-term position for 6 months.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate as an active member of the nursing team, accountable for your practice and role modelling the highest standards of care.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge base of surgical conditions and the treatment required, using evidence on which to base practice.
  • Support the team in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care of patients attending the department.
  • Lead by example with drive and enthusiasm, responding appropriately to the needs of patients, families, and carers.
  • Coordinate patient discharge arrangements in accordance with NGH discharge policy and processes.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records via Nerve Centre.

Essential criteria

  • NMC Registration
  • Experience of surgical nursing

We are a friendly, hard working team who strive for excellence. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed team members who will help maintain our high standards for patient care. In return we offer support and training for the different types of surgery.
