Role summary
This role is for an experienced Band 7 Senior Clinician within the Mental Health Single Point of Access (SPA), NHS 111*2, and Mental Health Urgent Community Response (MH UCR) services. Key responsibilities
- Provide senior oversight of complex referrals, telephone triage, urgent and crisis presentations, and professional-to-professional contacts.
- Lead the service clinically and operationally on shift, offering immediate support for risk, escalation, and complex pathway decisions.
- Maintain oversight of service pressures and patient flow.
- Supervise and develop staff within the team.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audit processes, and performance monitoring.
- Work collaboratively with CATT, primary care, ambulance services, police, and wider partners.
Essential criteria
- oRegistered Professional (Mental Health Nurse RMN, Social Worker or OT).
- oEvidence of ongoing professional development
- oMentorship/Teaching & assessing qualification
- oExperience in a variety of MH settings as a qualified practitioner.
- oSignificant experience at band 6 or equivalent within CRHTT, Liaison nursing, intake service or equivalent.
- oDelivering Clinical supervision/ reflective practice to nursing as well as other professionals.
- oMulti-disciplinary team working.
- oUnderstand a range of models of mental disorder, including the contribution of social, physical and development factors.
- oUnderstand the social perspective on mental disorder and mental health needs.
- oAbility to build relationships across organisational and professional boundaries
- oAbility to analyse and interpret complex data required to deliver the service.
- oAbility to deal with complex issues arising from managing a diverse multidisciplinary service
- oExcellent verbal and written communication skills
- oGood risk assessment and management skills
- oUnderstanding of social care resources and provision available beyond statutory agencies
- oExperience of supervision or practice teaching.
- oAbility to demonstrate leadership under pressure, including good communication, prioritisation, and influencing.
- oExtensive experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting.
- oDemonstrate the ability to assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individuals experiencing acute mental distress.

- I.T. and Database skills with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet management
- Received additional training in areas such as AMHP, BIA, Court of Protection, Practice Educator and talking therapies
- oPossession of a valid UK driving license.
