Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Breast Services team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across symptomatic and breast cancer pathways and contributing to service development. Working autonomously, the CNS will provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up for patients with breast disease. The successful candidate will be passionate about patient care and committed to continuous service improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across symptomatic and breast cancer pathways.
- Contribute to the continued development of the breast services.
- Provide expert autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up for patients presenting with breast disease.
- Work alongside Consultant Breast Surgeons, Radiologists, Breast Care Nurses, Oncologists and Allied Health Professionals.
Essential criteria

- NMC Level One Registered Nurse
- BSc in Nursing
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course

- Non-medical prescribing (or willingness to undertake)
- Significant experience post registration at band 7 with experience in working with patients in breast services
- Membership of special interest and professional group
- Working within a leadership role
- Change management and leadership skills
- Flexible approach to working
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to travel between sites
