Role summary
This role is for an experienced and motivated Senior MRI Radiographer to join the neuro radiology department. You will undertake a wide range of diagnostic examinations, producing high-quality images and supporting patient care. The position is rotational, offering training in MR, CT, and Interventional Neuroradiology, allowing for development of specialist knowledge and autonomous practice. You will also supervise junior staff and contribute to service delivery.
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of all relevant professional and NHS policies and procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of MRI sequences and imaging parameters.
- Detailed knowledge of MRI Safety.
- Evidence of CPD.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of audit and research
- Good organisational interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team or independently as required.
- Evidence of leadership skills
- IT skills necessary for Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) including keyboard and mouse skills.
- Cannulation skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Broad range of MRI scanning experience.
- Advanced MRI scanning procedures
- Additional roles such as MRI safety, manual handling facilitator, CPR training, Health and Safety representative.
- HCPC registered.
- BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent with significant post degree experience.
- Post Graduate qualification in a clinical speciality, or post graduate specialist short courses or relevant specialist experience.
- Post Graduate qualification in MRI

Job summary
Due to an expansion in our MRI service within the Radiology Department in Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust, we have an opportunity for an experienced, motivated radiographer to work in our neuro radiology department.
The department is one of the top Neuroradiology units in the UK providing a comprehensive range of specialist procedures, tests and treatments for all types of neurological conditions as well as a major trauma centre and host to the Great North Children's Hospital.
In Neuroradiology you will work as part of a small multidisciplinary team, providing high quality patient care, diagnostic imaging and interventional services. This is a rotational role that will allow you to train in MR, CT and Interventional Neuroradiology.
This post is ideal for a radiographer with proven experience in either CT, MRI and/or interventional radiography and wishes to develop their knowledge further within a busy tertiary teaching hospital.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology with a recently installed Philips Azurion biplane system and a Siemens 3T Vida and 1.5T Flow Elite MRI scanners being installed withing the next 6 months.
Although this post is aimed towards a neuro radiographer, there may be an opportunity to concentrate your skills solely in general MRI performing MSK, ENT, cardiac, breast, gynae, HPB and paediatrics examinations.
