Role summary
This role is for an experienced nurse to join the Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service. You will provide specialist advice and person-centred care, managing a caseload of patients with stroke or neurological conditions. The position involves working within a multidisciplinary team, delivering interventions, and contributing to service development. It is a part-time role of 21 hours per week, promoting hybrid working across community, base, and home settings.
Essential criteria
- Has a drivers licence and access to a car
- Has a Nursing Degree and is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Experience at Band 5 or above
- Experience of specialist working
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
- Experience of delivering training
- Experience of using electronic patient record systems
- Able to communicate effectively
- Willingness to advance own clinical knowledge, skills and competence based on current evidence
- Ability to use own initiative within sphere of authority

Job summary
Are you an established nurse looking to be part of an experienced team? Our Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service would love to hear from you where ideas are shared, and visions are supported.
You will provide specialist advice with a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity. Our integrated community stroke and neuro team is AHP lead and provide various pathways including supported self-management, advice with signposting, intensive rehabilitation (ESD), complex management and reviews. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team including social work, neuropsychology, rotations across the acute and community pathway and opportunities for advanced practice. You will have access to a wide range of specialists with many years of experience who can help to increase your opportunities for learning and development of skills.
The specialist nurse post is a part time role of 21 hours. Our service is a 6-day service. We promote hybrid working with mixed caseload of community, base and working from home;
West Dorset (base at Forston Clinic) covering Weymouth & Portland, Lyme Regis, Purbecks and Dorchester.
