Role summary
This role is for newly qualified Band 5 midwives to join the dedicated maternity team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Key responsibilities
- Assess and support the physical and psychological wellbeing of pregnant, labouring and postpartum women and their families.
- Risk assess, monitor and care for women on low- and high-risk pathways throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and practice using current evidence-based research, contributing to midwifery development.
- Teach, supervise, support and assess student midwives and colleagues within the wider maternity team.
- Work within the framework of the NMC Midwives Code of Practice and Trust Guidelines and Protocols.

Our comprehensive 18-month Preceptorship Programme is designed to help newly qualified midwives build confidence, develop their clinical practice and feel fully supported as they begin their careers. Preceptees will receive a dedicated time-out day each month, providing protected space away from clinical duties to come together with their peers, reflect and debrief in a supportive environment, practise essential clinical skills and take part in focused learning and professional development.
