Role summary

We are seeking motivated and passionate Registered Nurses to join our Stroke rehab team on Ward 15B. This role offers the opportunity to care for a range of patients within a supportive multi-disciplinary environment. You will expand your nursing skills, providing five-star patient care, whether you are new to nursing, looking for a change, or returning to practice. The team provides 7-day working and comprehensive support for all staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care to patients, providing advice in a variety of settings.
  • Carry out nursing procedures in line with current NMC standards of proficiency.
  • Ensure the health, wellbeing and independence of patients and service users, maintaining associated records.
  • Supervise junior staff and all learners.
  • Provide and receive complex information, communicating sensitively and confidentially with patients/clients.
  • Plan and organise a defined caseload of patients on a continuing basis.

Essential criteria

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code
  • Experience of working in a clinical environment
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels
  • Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own workload
  • Ability to de-escalate complex situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Awareness of the need for confidentiality at all times
  • Computer literacy e.g. experience of electronic patient record

As the speciality of Stroke , we now provide true 7 day working supported by our Multidisciplinary team of Health Care Assistants, Nurses and a Consultant and therapy staff. All disciplines work closely with one another to ensure our teams are fully supported.
