Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Consultant Speech and Language Therapist to lead the Adult Learning Disabilities (ALD) service across North Highland. The role involves providing specialist clinical input, strategic guidance, and professional leadership to the ALD SLT team and wider multidisciplinary team. You will manage complex cases, provide advice and education, and supervise less experienced therapists. The post is based in Inverness within a supportive and dynamic wider SLT team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership, development and provision of a dynamic specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorders.
- Offer specialist professional leadership for the ALD SLT team and wider team, maintaining excellent standards and promoting team cohesion.
- Day to day co-ordination of ALD SLT service delivery.
- Provide highly specialist clinical input to the ALD service and consultancy support to adults with learning disabilities, carers, and other bodies.
- Manage complex cases and provide strategic guidance to the Adult SLT Head of Service and AHP Lead.
- Deliver advice and education to multidisciplinary/SLT teams, undertaking specialist teaching and supervising less experienced therapists.
Essential criteria
- Extensive relevant experience of working in ALD SLT.
- Excellent leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- BSc, or equivalent, in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Driving licence (as travel is an essential part of this Highland-wide role).
Desirable criteria
- Registration with RCSLT.
