Role summary
This role involves championing perinatal mental health across the 0-19 Public Health Family Health Service, ensuring women, babies, and families receive essential support. The practitioner will drive early recognition of attachment and parent-infant relationship challenges, facilitating access to specialist support. Key responsibilities include building partnerships with IAPT services and health visitors to create seamless pathways and inspiring confidence in the workforce through expert consultation and training. The position is fixed-term until 31st March 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Support health visiting teams to access appropriate care pathways and implement the Ready to Relate intervention.
- Train the 0-5 workforce in early recognition and basic interventions related to suboptimal perinatal mental health.
- Develop and provide a consultation model to support health visiting teams in their perinatal mental health work.
- Identify and support the collection of prevalence data to evidence impact.
- Develop the interface between health visiting services, IAPT, and SMABS.
- Contribute to teaching and training on issues related to perinatal mental health and parent-infant relationships within 0-19 services.
Essential criteria
- One or more of the qualifications listed: o Registered General Nurse o Registered Nurse -Mental Health o Registered Midwife o SCPHN
- Previous experience of working with perinatal difficulties and parent infant work
- Experience of working in perinatal mental health/mental health services
- Experience of working collaboratively with other professionals within the health economy and from other organisations.
- Willing to be flexible and adaptable in accordance with changing service operational priorities.
Desirable criteria
- Masters/ Post graduate qualification in perinatal mental health
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, as accredited by the British Psychological Society. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Doctorate Level 6-year ACP accredited training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy which includes a minimum of 4 years' full-time clinical training and one's own intensive analysis. Full member of Association of Child Psychotherapists
- Supports Trust mission values and operational priorities
