Role summary
This role is for a qualified Cardiac Physiologist/Cardiac Scientist specializing in Echocardiography to join a busy Cardio-Respiratory Department. The successful candidate will be an independent practitioner in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography and participate in specialized procedures. Key responsibilities
- Be an independent practitioner in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography.
- Participate in specialised procedures such as TOE, Stress Echo, and Contrast/Bubble Studies.
- Work closely with Cardiologists.
- Perform a variety of diagnostic tests provided by the department.
- Participate in teaching, training, and mentoring at all levels.
Essential criteria
- BSc/MSc in cardiac physiology/cardiac science
- BSE Accredited (equivalent qualifications may be considered)
- Significant, demonstrable post qualification experience
- Will be fully competent in carrying out full study BSE echocardiograms
- Competent in performing all cardiac investigations provided by the department
- Experience in training and assessment of junior staff and other medical professionals
- Ability to organise and analyse data with good critical thinking skills
- Ability to obtain all cardiac ultrasound views as described in the BSE minimum dataset on both technically easy and challenging patients utilising optimal patient positioning and technical skills
- Actively participates in teaching and training
- Knowledge of a wide range of cardiac physiology investigations and advanced specialist knowledge in Echocardiography
Desirable criteria
- RCCP registered
- Qualifications in training/assessing/mentoring
- Experience in assisting in TOE, and performing specialised Echocardiograms, i.e., 3D, Contrast, Bubble studies and stress echo
- Experience in physiologist led specialist clinics
- History taking and general clinical examination
