Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic psychology graduate to join the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) team and Intensive Intervention Risk Management Service (IIRMS) in Leicestershire. You will work with individuals with complex psychological needs within the criminal justice system, supporting their wellbeing and reducing risk. The role involves direct and indirect work with service users, providing consultation to Probation Officers, and developing and delivering psych-education sessions. You will work under the close supervision of a Registered Psychologist.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake protocol-based psychometric assessments with service users.
- Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving psychological treatment.
- Assist in the co-ordination and running of therapeutic groups and structured sessions.
- Communicate and liaise with staff of other disciplines, including Probation Service staff.
- Review case files, depositions, and other records, providing summaries and reports under supervision.
- Prepare reports on clinical interventions, psychometric assessments, and research/audit projects.
Essential criteria
- A First or Upper Second class honours degree in psychology or a lower Second class degree with a post-graduate qualification, e.g. Master's degree.
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Has significant experience of face-to-face work with people with complex psychological problems (including people diagnosed with personality disorder or other mental health diagnoses), learning disabilities and/or offending behaviour
- Has experience of working alongside staff from other disciplines
- Has worked closely with clinical or applied psychologists and has an awareness of professional standards/issues
Desirable criteria
- Degree included study of psychopathology/Clinical/ Forensic issues
- Postgraduate degree in Forensic Psychology
- Has experience of working in a hospital, prison, or other criminal justice setting.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of research methods, audit or other service evaluation techniques
- Experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist.
- Experience of facilitating therapeutic groups
