Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust. You will manage a complex caseload of children and young people with EHCPs, providing specialist assessments and interventions in mainstream settings. The position involves supporting colleagues and students, contributing to service development, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. It requires a proactive clinician with paediatric experience and a commitment to advancing occupational therapy for children.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of children and young people with various conditions.
- Provide specialist assessments, interventions, and coaching to families, education staff, and other professionals.
- Lead on supporting and training team members, and supervise students and therapy assistants.
- Contribute to service development through evidence-based, multi-agency projects.
- Provide universal and targeted advice within the SEND Code of Practice and deliver training to parents and practitioners.
- Actively participate in team meetings and ensure delivery of a high-quality, child-centred occupational therapy service.
Essential criteria
- Registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
- Recognised Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Licence to Practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development and personal development in the area of working with school aged children
- Clinical Experience of working in a range of settings
- Evidence of knowledge in safe guarding procedures
- Experience of delivering intervention/advice in person
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of good presentation skills
- Evidence of supervision of others
