Role summary
This role is for a Treasury Officer within the Treasury Team, reporting to the Treasury Manager. The primary responsibility is to ensure all work related to the Trust and subsidiaries' Annual Accounts is completed on time, collaborating with external auditors for unqualified audit reports. The role also involves rotational duties manning Cashiers Offices at Birmingham Children's Hospital and Birmingham Women's Hospital, providing customer service to patients and staff. Additionally, the officer will work with internal auditors, implementing recommendations within agreed timescales.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure all work associated with the Trust and subsidiaries' Annual Accounts is completed within defined timetables.
- Work with the Group's External Auditor to ensure information correctness and achieve unqualified audit reports.
- Man the Cashiers Offices at Birmingham Children's Hospital and Birmingham Women's Hospital, providing customer service.
- Analyse, investigate, and resolve financial queries and discrepancies, including balance sheet and salary deduction reconciliations.
- Analyse financial data to identify and rectify errors, such as those on Petty Cash reconciliations or incorrect payroll entries.
- Perform complex calculations for various salary deduction schemes and decide on pursuing over/underpayments.
Essential criteria
- GCSE Math & English Grade C or above
- AAT Technician or equivalent experience and theoretical knowledge
- Experience in Cash Handling
- Detailed understanding of accounting procedures such as reconciliations, coding structures, procedures
- A practical working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and experience using a computerised general ledger
- Ability to analyse, investigate and resolve financial queries and discrepancies
- Analyses financial data to identify errors and sorts out problems from a range of options
- Carries out complex calculations about payments and decides whether and how to pursue over/underpayments
- Liaise with Treasury Manager to ensure Cashier office is manned during opening times
- Detailed understanding of accounting procedures to Technician Level
- The ability to work under minimal supervision and direction
- Neat and precise methods of working, including the maintenance of complete and accurate filing and record systems, both manual and computerised
- The ability to use initiative in fulfilling and completing tasks
- Excellent time management skills to manage workload within time frames
- Punctual and flexible across hours of work when required
- Demonstrate alignment with the values and beliefs of the Trust
- Demonstrate an understanding of the practices of equality and inclusion in the delivery of this role
- Ability to resolve difficult situations under pressure
- Excellent communication skills

- Experience of working in an NHS Finance environment with a Shared Service Provider

Job summary
Working as part of a Treasury Team and reporting to the Treasury Manager to ensure all work associated with the Trust and subsidiaries (the Group) Annual Accounts are completed within the defined timetable. This will involve working with the Group's External Auditor to ensure that all information is correct and that the Group not only fulfills its financial duties but achieves an unqualified audit reports.
Dependent on the needs of the business the Treasury duties could be carried out in the Treasury Office at the Birmingham Children's Hospital, Birmingham Women's Hospital or remotely from home.
A key rotational role will be to ensure the Cashiers Offices are fully manned and operational within the opening hours determined by the Chief Financial Officer. There is a Cashiers Office located in both the Birmingham Children's Hospital and Birmingham Women's Hospital. Dependent on the needs of the business cover needs to be given to both sites. The Cashier role involves Customer Service to patients, staff and liaising with Cash carriers.
Work with the Trust's Internal Auditors when the Treasury Department is audited, sharing processes and procedures. This will require implementing any proposed recommendations within agreed timescales.
