Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 7 Specialist Midwife to lead and develop diabetes-in-pregnancy pathways within maternity services. The role involves providing specialist, evidence-based care to women with pre-existing and gestational diabetes throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. The post holder will offer expert clinical leadership, specialist advice, and education, contributing to service development. They will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, personalised care and improve outcomes for women and babies. The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner with strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
Essential criteria
- oRegistered Midwife with current NMC registration
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification/mentorship
Desirable criteria
- o Relevant specialty related qualification/module
- oStudy at master's level
- oV300 Non-Medical Prescribing
- oMinimum of 3 years clinical post registration experience in Midwifery
- oWorked in specialist diabetic role or has speciality knowledge and experience
- oCurrent clinical experience in acute hospital /Community setting.
- oExperience of providing formal teaching development to staff /colleagues
- oExperience of working as part of the multidisciplinary team
- oExperience of audit/research
- oExperience of guideline development
- oEvidence of implementing change in clinical practice
- oExpert Knowledge in Diabetes
- oAbility to analyses problems and implements appropriate solutions.
- oKnowledge of current clinical and professional issues
- oExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- oAbility to critically analyse data.
- oAn understanding of the key issues and challenges in Saving Babies Lives care bundle V3.
- oEffective leadership skills

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Specialist**** Midwife to lead and develop diabetes-in-pregnancy pathways within our maternity services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated midwife with a passion for diabetes care to provide specialist, evidence-based care to women with pre-existing and gestational diabetes throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership, specialist advice**** and education, whilst contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the diabetes maternity service. Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary maternity and diabetes teams, the post holder will support the delivery of high-quality, personalised care and help to improve outcomes and experiences for women and their babies.
The successful candidate will be a confident and autonomous practitioner with excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills, able to influence and support colleagues. You will play a key role in promoting evidence-based practice, developing clinical pathways, supporting education and training, and contributing to quality improvement and service development.
