Role summary
This is a 12-month fixed-term trainee post to become an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) within a fast-growing team in Bradford and Craven. The role involves studying for a postgraduate diploma two days a week at Prestwich and working in service for the remaining three days. Upon successful completion of the EMHP Postgraduate Diploma and registration, the role will become permanent at AfC Band 5. The postholder will deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in education settings, and support access to specialist services for those with more severe problems.
Essential criteria
- Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification, e.g. foundation degree: or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level - Demonstratable ability to study at Level 7
- The postholder will be studying for a postgraduate diploma, evidence of ability to study at level 7 is required.
- Evidence of working with children and young people who experience common mental health difficulties including anxiety and/or depression.
- Demonstrates high standards in written communication.
- Working knowledge of Health, Social and caring services, education and voluntary sector, together with the relevant legislation regarding both children and mental health
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young people's welfare in line with the children's act 2004 requirements
- Able to write clear reports and letter.
- Ability to manage own caseload and time

Job summary
We have Trainee EMHP posts available in Bradford and Craven District- a chance to work and study to be an EMHP with a fast growing team across Bradford. The Green paper set out the ambitions to increase the mental health support for young people within school settings. Bradford currently has a developed team and is expanding.
These are 12-month fixed-term trainee posts at Agenda for Change (AfC) Band 4. Successful candidates will undertake the EMHP training programme, delivered at Prestwich, attending university two days per week, while working in service for the remaining three days.
Trainees will be paid at Band 4 during the training period. Upon successful completion of the EMHP Postgraduate Diploma and registration with a recognised professional body, the role will become permanent at AfC Band 5 as a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner.
