Role summary

This role supports the Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) service within Trauma & Orthopaedics. Key responsibilities

  • Support the effective day-to-day running of the Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) service.
  • Coordinate patient pathways, manage referrals, and book appointments.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all clinic outcomes and correspondence are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Review and action VFC outcomes, process referrals, and monitor clinic capacity.
  • Coordinate imaging pathways and respond to patient queries via telephone, email, and digital platforms.
  • Prioritise urgent actions, escalate pathway delays, and provide high-standard administrative support.

Essential criteria

  • Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 'C' grade GCSE's (including English Language and Maths) or equivalent
  • Understanding of Orthopaedic medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
  • Experience booking appointments and managing patient pathways
  • Experience dealing with patients and handling telephone queries
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Reliable and able to manage competing priorities

Desirable criteria

  • Competence in the use of various computer software packages
