Role summary
Join the Integrated Children's Community Occupational Therapy Team as a Band 3 Assistant, supporting children and young people aged 0-19. You will deliver intervention programmes under therapist guidance, manage enquiries, and assist in clinics. This role offers dedicated training, supervision, and the chance to make a real difference in a supportive team. An independent means of transport is essential for clinic, home, and school visits.
Key responsibilities
- To develop and deliver occupational therapy treatment programmes using guidelines set by qualified therapists.
- To hold responsibility for own caseload within a defined area of the service and work without direct supervision.
- To communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives on an individual or group basis.
- To carry out administrative duties as required, working collaboratively with clerical staff.
- To maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment and equipment both in Trusts premises or clients home.
Essential criteria
- Education to GCSE level or equivalent
- Willingness to work towards the Care Certificate
- Previous experience as a therapy assistant
- Experience of working with Children
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Competent IT skills (Word, Email)
- Able to present information, written and orally in an accurate clear and logical manner
- Ability to organise prioritise and delegate
- Ability to comprehend and work within the trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety and meet the differing needs of the patients
- Ability to keep accurate and legible patient notes
- Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and with emotional or aggressive patients and carers
- Problem solving
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

- Passes Occupational Health clearance and police checks.

We're looking for a friendly, motivated Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Integrated Children's Community Occupational Therapy Team.
You'll support our clinical teams, working with children and young people aged 0-19. Therapy is delivered in clinics, homes, and schools, so an independent means of transport is essential.
Under the guidance of qualified therapists, you'll deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate intervention programmes, manage telephone and email enquiries, and support clinics by setting up equipment, assisting with therapeutic handling, and maintaining high infection prevention standards.
In addition to the mandatory training requirements, we will provide dedicated training in line with our service standards, with progress supported through regular supervision and Personal Development Reviews (PDRs).
