Role summary
This role is for a Theatre Healthcare Assistant at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, providing direct, safe, and high-quality patient-focused care within the Theatre department under supervision. It requires working various shifts including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and on-call. The successful candidate will start at Band 2 and progress to Band 3 upon completion of mandatory training and competencies. Experience in theatre is essential for this position.
Key responsibilities
- Perform as a safe competent clinical member of the theatre team and provide care for the peri-operative patient under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Ensure the cleanliness of all the Operating Theatre areas and equipment at all times and to participate in all cleaning programmes.
- Prepare the Operating Theatre prior to and following operative procedures ensuring correct equipment available and in working order.
- Assist the Scrubbed Practitioner in the preparation and replenishment of sterile trolleys using an aseptic technique.
- Participate in swab, needle and instrument counts under the direction of the Scrubbed Practitioner.
- Participate and comply with all aspects of any Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) process.

- Ability to partake in flexible working shifts patterns including nights, twilight's and on call
- Understands the job requires frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions/ body fluids/noxious fumes/ COSHH regulated substances
- Good general standard education
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2/3 in care/care related subject
- Good Basic Education to GCSE level (Level 2) or equivalent
- Care Certificate
- Has experience of working with the public.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of what is required within the role of Theatre Health Care Assistant
- Can describe the Trust Values and demonstrate how they put these in to practice within their caring role
- Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to develop and maintain communication both verbal and written
- Can demonstrate the ability to understand and follow a work related instruction
- Works well as part of a team

Job summary
We are looking for dynamic and proactive members of staff to maintain the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-focused care within our Theatre department.
We are looking for forward thinking and highly motivated staff, who are able to demonstrate good time management skills, you will also need to possess good communication skills (verbal, written & electronic) and have the ability to work as part of a team.
The successful applicants will give direct care to patients attending the operating department, in a safe and welcoming environment under the supervision of professionally qualified staff.
This role does require you to work days, nights, evenings, weekends & on-call.
This role will start at a Band 2 and will then progress to a Band 3 once all mandatory training and competencies have been completed.
