Role summary
This role involves rotating through various clinical areas in primary and secondary care, including medicine, surgery, mental health, and community settings. You will provide high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care and medicines optimisation within multidisciplinary teams. The position offers mentorship from experienced pharmacists and support for developing prescribing skills and advanced practice. You will also contribute to the training and supervision of pharmacy students and other healthcare colleagues.
Key responsibilities
- Rotate through clinical areas and specialities in primary and secondary care.
- Deliver excellent pharmaceutical care and medicines optimisation to achieve the best outcome for patients.
- Develop prescribing skills and gain core advanced level credentialing with the RPS.
- Participate in the clinical training and supervision of undergraduate pharmacy students, pharmacy team members, and medical/nursing colleagues.
- Contribute to the service and be a key member of the clinical pharmacy team.
Essential criteria
- MPharm degree or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications
- Broad post registration experience
- Good verbal/written communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to work within a multidisciplinary team setting
- Evidence of implementation of change
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Participate in the provision of general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services as necessary
- Willingness to participate in "on call" out of hours duty roster as necessary
Desirable criteria
- Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a HEI Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc Tutor
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- RPS Member
- Specialist in specialist clinical area
- Evidence of successful management of people
- Development of protocols and procedures
- Teaching and presentational skills
- Ability to move between sites in a timely manner
