Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 5 Dietitian to join the dynamic acute services therapy team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves providing dietetic services to a range of inpatients as part of a rotation program, focusing on acute medicine, elderly care, and surgery. The successful candidate will manage a patient caseload, provide nutritional advice, and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives. They will also be involved in training dietetic students and public health events.
Key responsibilities
- To be responsible for providing nutritional advice and counselling to a broad range of inpatient wards, with the support of the line manager and specialist dietitians.
- To manage a patient caseload through assessment of clinical need and effective prioritisation, with the support of the line manager & clinical supervisor.
- To provide nutritional advice to patients, carers and clinicians based on clinical evidence, involving collection and analysis of anthropometry and biochemistry.
- To interpret information and apply clinical judgement to assess, evaluate and monitor nutritional status and advise on appropriate, evidence-based dietary interventions.
- To translate complex scientific, medical, biochemical and nutritional information into simple and easily understood practical advice for individuals and carers.
- To utilise well developed communication skills to advise a diverse range of patients from differing cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- HPC Registration
- Working as part of a team
- Working with the public
- Proficient use of PC of MS office and nutritional analysis packages
- Physically fit and able to comply with trust manual handling guidelines
- A helpful, positive and flexible attitude

Job summary
Wehave an exciting opportunity for a motivated Dietitian, eager to increase their clinical skills in acute medicine, health services for the elderly and surgery, to join our dynamic acute services therapy team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
The posts will be integrated within multi-professional therapy teams to provide a dietetic service to a large range of inpatients, forming part of our Band 5 rotation program.
The successful applicants will have knowledge around nutrition support, including artificial nutrition support. They will thrive when working closely as part of a team and be ready to further develop their skills in service development, people management, quality improvement and audit. They will be involved in public health events and presentations, both to patients and other healthcare professionals.
In line with other professional groups, the dietetic team undertakes training of dietetic students for all placement types. e pride ourselves in being a forward-thinking department with a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
