Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic, highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technician to join a successful team on a part-time, 12-month temporary contract. The postholder will contribute to developing pharmacy services at Foss Park Hospital in York, focusing on medicines management and optimisation. They will work with colleagues in dispensaries and wards to ensure accurate and timely medication supply and assist clinical pharmacists in ward-based services. The role involves delivering technical clinical pharmacy services and promoting medicines optimisation under the direction of the Lead Pharmacy Technician.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent\*
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)\*
  • \*At the time of applying Pre-registration pharmacy technicians MUST be due to qualify/register in four months or less
  • Accredited checking qualification or willing to commence within 12 months

  • CPPE The community Pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme
  • CPPE Mental Health
  • Experience of pharmacy practice
  • Experience of a patient facing role
  • Understanding of the risk issues associated with medicines
  • Microsoft Office including Teams, word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Use of email
  • Use of internet
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Patient centred care
  • Able to follow legal and organisational policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Leadership experience and/or staff supervision
  • Other
  • Suitable to work with vulnerable patients
  • Ability to travel independently in accordance with Trust policies and service need

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technician to join our successful team in a part time 30 hours temporary contract for 12 months, and contribute towards developing our services. The successful applicant will share our vision and be committed to our values and goals for the delivery of the best care to our patients. Applicants should hold Level 3 BTEC / NVQ Pharmacy Services certificate or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.

Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department as a qualified technician or as a student technician is desirable although applications from qualified pharmacy technicians working in the community sector are welcome.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
