Role summary
This role involves coordinating and delivering bereavement support for individuals and families connected to Marie Curie Bradford Hospice. You will manage referrals, provide direct counselling, and support bereavement groups. The position also includes recruiting, supervising, and supporting bereavement volunteers and students, ensuring a high-quality, compassionate service.
Essential criteria
- Professional Counselling Qualification - DipHE Counselling / Foundation degree in Counselling
- Professional membership of BACP or IABACP OR
- Minimum of 450hrs qualified Counselling experience.
- To show a commitment to professional development through on-going training.

- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Level 5
- Experience of supervision and support to a group of volunteers Experience of working within a context of End of Life / Bereavement and loss Experience of working with clients who have complex needs Experience of co-ordinating a service and/or managing a project Experience of co-ordinating and delivering teaching
- Experience of managing people
- Experience of working with families
- Experience of facilitating groups
- Experience of delivering spiritual care
- Experience of other faith communities through active interfaith engagement
- Knowledge of specialist palliative care.
- Understanding of bereavement related theories
- Knowledge of Marie Curie Standards for Bereavement Care.
- Knowledge of models of supervision
- Understanding of audit and research
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Understanding the characteristics of an effective spiritual & religious care service.
- Knowledge of spiritual and religious issues around end-of-life care, loss and bereavement

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Bereavement Coordinator to join our Patient and Family Support Team at Marie Curie Bradford Hospice on a 9-month fixed term maternity cover contract.
In this rewarding role, you will coordinate and deliver bereavement support for people connected to the hospice, helping to ensure that patients, families and those important to them receive timely, compassionate and appropriate support before and after bereavement. You will be a key point of contact for people accessing bereavement counselling and support, working closely with colleagues, volunteers, students and external partners to provide a responsive, high-quality service.
