Role summary
This role involves supporting the Medical Rostering Team in creating timely and compliant rotas for the medical workforce. You will act as a trusted point of contact, advising clinical and operational colleagues on e-Rostering tools and practices. The position requires balancing technical compliance with interpersonal skills to ensure effective rota management and staff engagement. You will help maintain safe staffing levels and meet contractual targets for resident doctors.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with departments to create rotas compliant with Terms & Conditions of service, satisfying educational and operational needs.
- Develop rotas using good rostering practice to support an effective training environment for Resident Doctors in Training.
- Support and advise Care Group Managers, senior clinicians, and Doctors on rota design and implementation.
- Work with Medical Workforce and Divisional management teams to provide regular analysis of information on hours and work intensity.
- Offer specialist advice to Medical and Dental staff and Divisional management teams to support safe rotas.
- Devise creative solutions to ensure compliance and assist with strategic planning to meet Resident Doctor Contract and WTD targets.
Essential criteria
- Educated to A-Level standard, NVQ Level 4, equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience in a workforce, HR, rostering or operational environment
- GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Experience of working in a workforce, HR, medical staffing, e-Rostering or operational management environment
- Experience of analysing and interpreting complex information and producing accurate reports
- Knowledge of rota management, workforce planning principles and workforce systems
- Ability to manage and prioritise a complex workload, working independently and meeting deadlines
- Ability to provide advice and guidance on complex workforce and rostering matters
- Ability to analyse information, identify issues and develop practical solutions

A key part of the role is engagement helping clinical staff understand, adapt to, and confidently use e-Rostering tools. You'll balance the technical accuracy of rota compliance with the interpersonal skill needed to bring staff along with system changes, ensuring compliant rotas are built.
