Role summary
The Wound Healing Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides expert leadership and specialist knowledge to improve wound healing outcomes across the city. This dynamic role combines advanced clinical practice, education, quality improvement, governance, service development, and research to drive excellence in wound care. The CNS will provide highly specialist clinical advice, leadership, supervision, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues managing patients with complex wounds. The role includes direct patient assessment, intervention, and management of complex wound healing challenges, ensuring timely access to specialist expertise.
Essential criteria
- oRegistered with NMC oPost graduate education in Wound Care or have equivalent knowledge and experience. oMentoring and assessing qualification. oLeadership and management qualification within Healthcare / relevant leadership experience oEligible and willing to obtain independent non-medical prescribing qualification. oEligible and willing to work towards Msc in Tissue Viability or equivalent

- oMust have good awareness of recent research issues and evidence of involvement in research or audit. oMust be able to implement the principles of Clinical Governance and Audit. oMust be able to practice safely and competently, particularly in the assessment of risk. oMust be able to demonstrate an ability to change theory into practice
- oMust be able to evidence and demonstrate good clinical assessment skills. oMust be able to demonstrate sound personal management skills - time management, prioritising, planning. oMust be able to demonstrate operational judgements, managing conflicting views / reconcile inter and intra professional differences of opinion. oMust be able to demonstrate recent operational and clinical leadership experience in the subject matter. oMust be able to contribute to supervisory process for junior staff and learners.
