Role summary
This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Specialist Neuro-Muscular Team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people with neuro-muscular conditions, delivering high-quality, family-centred care. You will manage a complex caseload and contribute to service development. The ideal candidate will be skilled, motivated, and passionate about delivering family-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the specialist physiotherapy service for children and young people with neuromuscular conditions across the region
- Manage a complex caseload, providing expert assessment, treatment and ongoing care
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary neuromuscular team to deliver high-quality, family-centred care
- Provide specialist advice and support to physiotherapists and other professionals across local and satellite clinics
- Contribute to service development and the delivery of evidence-based best practice.
Essential criteria
- Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HPC Registration
- Relevant post graduate courses
- Portfolio evidence of reflective practice
- Relevant and substantial paediatric neurology / Neurodisability / neuromuscular
- Community / lone worker experience
- Appraisal / supervision / teaching of more junior staff
- Audit / Research projects
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Advanced understanding of clinical governance and it's implications for services
- Understanding of the impact of chronic illness / disability / hospitalisation on children and their families
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family
- Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and within emotional or challenging situations
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Access to a car for professional use with valid driving license and insurance
Desirable criteria
- MSc in Paediatric Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Member of APCP
- Research qualification
- Active involvement in relevant CSP special interest groups or voluntary organisations
- Work in a Child Development Centre
