Role summary
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team is looking for an experienced Surveillance Analyst to join on a fixed-term basis for maternity cover. This role involves leading the development and maintenance of surveillance and reporting systems for IPC and antimicrobial stewardship. The post holder will provide high-quality intelligence to support decision-making and ensure accurate reporting. They will collaborate with clinical teams and digital services to integrate surveillance data within wider organisational intelligence.
Essential criteria
- Expert knowledge of database design and formatting using SQL and MS Access analysis and computerised software
- Proven track record of designing and developing a front-end clinical/informatics platform.
- Advance skills in the use of Excel, SQL and MS Access platforms. Experience in a role involving analysis, investigation and resolution of complex analytical queries
- Operational experience in an analyst or senior analyst role.
Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge in the use of R programming language in design and development of front-end analytics platforms.
- Education
- Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience
- Relevant clinical background or demonstrable understanding of the clinical arena
- MSc level qualification in an information management related field
- Skills/knowledge/abilities
- Able to identify areas for improvement and implement processes as appropriate
- Understanding of providing excellent customer service
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human physiology.

Job summary
