Role summary
This is an internal opportunity for an experienced clerical officer to support the new Lung Cancer Screening Programme starting in October 2026. The role involves assisting the Lead Co-ordinator, providing excellent care to participants, and supporting clinical teams in implementing the programme. The successful candidate will need compassionate communication skills and experience with HDFT patient systems, evolving with the programme over time.
Essential criteria
- Previous administrative and organisational experience
- Relevant Health or Social Care experience
- Minimum of two years' experience working with the public / patients in a healthcare environment

- Experience of working in a hospital environment
- Knowledge and experience of using Trust IT/patient record/information systems, e.g. ICS, ICE, WebV, Winscribe, CRIS
- Previous experience working within a cancer service

The Lung Cancer Screening Programme commences in the Trust in October 2026. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clerical officer to undertake the role of Lung Cancer Screening Assistant Co-ordinator to support the Lead Co-ordinator to deliver programme and provide excellent care to the participants. The successful candidate will require compassionate communication skills and have experience with HDFT patient systems.
The purpose of this role is to support clinical teams to implement the lung cancer screening programme. This role has been specially designed to support the programme and will require the post holder to evolve to support the programme to refine over time.
It is expected that the post holder will assist the team leader and use their own initiative within the LCS team. The post holder is expected to be experienced within the hospital setting with knowledge and evidence of specialised terminology, educated to a level required to perform the role or equivalent experience.
