Role summary
This part-time Healthcare Assistant role in Plastic Surgery Outpatients involves providing patient-focused care within a well-established team. You will support consultants in clinics, act as a chaperone, and assist with minor surgical and emergency trauma lists. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Training will be provided for specific skills if needed.
Key responsibilities
- Work both independently and as part of the wider Multidisciplinary Team.
- Support and assist consultant colleagues in the smooth running of their clinics.
- Act as a chaperone.
- Support outpatient minor surgical and emergency trauma lists.
- Support qualified staff in undertaking all aspects of outpatient care, including clinics, simple wound dressings, and runner in minor operations.
Essential criteria
- Customer Service relations experience
- Care Certificate
- Numeracy and Literacy Level 2/GCSE Math and English Grade A-C
- At least one years' secondary care experience in Outpatients and/or Theatres
Desirable criteria
- Flexible to service demands
- Evidence of additional training
- Previous health care experience related to Burns and Plastics
- NVQ in Health or Social Care Level 3

The Plastic Surgery Outpatient Team would welcome applications from Health Care Assistants who enjoy working independently and working within a team in being instrumental in providing patient focused care.
This is a part time role of 24.75 hours per week over three days with shift pattern hours of 8am to 5pm to meet the demands of the service.
The successful candidate will join a well-established team and will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good team player with the ability to work well on their own initiative and willing to take on a variety of duties, whilst having the ability to maintain attention to detail.
You will ideally have knowledge or experience within plastic surgery and/or surgical runner skills.
