Role summary
This role is for a Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioner or Clinical Scientist in Audiology, focusing on paediatric audiology within a friendly team. It offers an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills, with responsibilities in quality assurance, supervision, and service development. The successful candidate will be supported with clinical supervision and CPD activities, and will have opportunities to lead innovative projects and develop leadership skills. Key responsibilities
- Develop and utilise specialist skills and knowledge within Paediatric Audiology.
- Undertake clinical supervision responsibilities.
- Develop and lead on innovative projects within the team.
- Assist in the delivery of Individual Management Plans (IMPs) for adults and children within a specialist Audiology service.
- Perform and interpret a range of clinical investigations and procedures for patient care, such as diagnostic tympanometry, OAEs, and speech audiometry.
- Participate in the delivery of specialist services like paediatric Audiology, tinnitus assessment, and complex diagnostic testing.
Essential criteria
- oBSc Audiology or equivalent (e.g., GDip Audiology / PGDip / BAAT in Audiology with clinical training programme)
- oProfessional registration with relevant UK body (HCPC or RCCP) (or in process with application if newly qualified)
- oEvidence of relevant and regular CPD
- oDemonstrable post-graduate experience in audiology
- oExperience in the assessment and management of hearing loss in paediatrics
- oAssessing and managing hearing loss in complex adult patients
- oEvidence of reflective practice and self-development
- oKnowledge of IQIPS standards and quality management within Audiology
- oExperience of Audiology Electronic Patient record (EPR) e.g., Auditbase
- oGood computer skills (experience of windows-based applications)
- oAbility to adapt communication style for hearing impaired individuals
- oAble to complete tasks within pre-defined time limits.
- oGood organisational skills and able to work using own initiative.
- oWell-motivated and committed to delivering good quality services
- oMust be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values. (As detailed in UHCW's Values in Action document below)
- oApplicants applying for job roles with managerial responsibility will be required to demonstrate evidence of promoting equal opportunities through work experience
Desirable criteria
- oPost graduate training/certificate in specialist modality (e.g., MSc, MSc modules, HTS modules)

- oElectrophysiological testing experience (adult or paediatric)
- oInvolvement in a UKAS assessment visit of an Audiology service
