Role summary
An Information Governance Officer is sought to join the team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves supporting the Trust in meeting its statutory and regulatory Information Governance obligations, including Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and incident management. The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance, manage enquiries, and contribute to continuous improvement of IG processes. This position requires experience in an IG environment, excellent organisational skills, and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
- Support senior IG colleagues in the development and delivery of governance projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate and support the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Assist with investigations relating to IG incidents, FOI requests, and Supportworks requests.
- Provide advice/guidance to staff and patients in line with IG policies.
- Maintain the IG Document Framework Library, ensuring accurate version control and effective document management practices.
- Plan and prioritise workload effectively, balancing planned deadlines with emerging priorities.
Essential criteria
- Educated to a degree standard or equivalent experience, i.e., 2 years working in IG environment
- Experience of working across all areas of Information Governance
- Experience of writing detailed procedure documents for employees
- Experience of handling complaints
- Experience of explaining complex issues to a range of people
- Experience of auditing working practices within own work area and other departments/areas
- Experience of dealing with queries from across an organisation on varying subjects and from a wide spectrum of staff
- Track record of supporting the implementation of improved information governance arrangement within complex organisations
- Demonstrates good knowledge of Information Governance / Data Protection Acts and Free of Information, NHS Code of Confidentiality, Access to Health Records Act and Calidcott Principles
- Track record of supporting the implementation of improved information governance arrangement within complex organisations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of records management patient confidentiality, information security and information sharing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with staff at all levels
- Ability to travel across sites within the Trust
Desirable criteria
- Existing or working towards a formal IG or data protection qualification
- Experience of project management

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Information Governance Officer to join the Information Governance Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will support the Trust in meeting its statutory, regulatory and organisational Information Governance obligations, including Data Protection, Freedom of Information, DPIAs, incident management, auditing and confidentiality and information sharing requirements. Working as part of a busy and responsive team, the successful candidate will provide advice and guidance to staff across the Trust, support the management of information governance enquiries and requests, and contribute to the continuous improvement of information governance processes and compliance.
This role would suit an individual with previous experience of working within a Information Governance environment, who has excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. They will also require a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including an excellent knowledge of Excel.
