Role summary

The States of Guernsey is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for Tautenay Ward, an 8-bedded assessment unit for older adults with dementia and other mental health conditions.   • The postholder will be supported to achieve either of the following within an agreed timeframe. Care certificate in first 6 months. Band 3 competency framework. With the potential to go onto the Student nurse associate qualification registered under the Nursing and Midwifery council (NMC) enabling the progression to a Band 4.
  • Candidates who hold a Level 3 VQ Diploma in Health & Social Care will be deemed to have an equivalent qualification and may not need to complete the full Band 3 Competency Pathway.

Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Healthcare

Assistant to join Tautenay Ward within Mental Health Services.

Tautenay Ward is an 8 bedded assessment unit for older adults who can present

with symptoms of dementia and other mental health conditions that can vary in

severity. This can include patients presenting with a range of complex

emotional and physical needs.

Main duties of the job

The role will be to assist the team in providing person

centred care. Under the supervision of a multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range

of duties under the direction of a registered nurse, with minimal supervision.

They will ensure high quality individualised care is delivered to service users

living with advanced dementia and other mental health diagnoses, maintaining

privacy and dignity. The post holder will demonstrate skills to new or less

experienced members of staff and participate in ward-based induction and

orientation programmes. They are responsible for ensuring that all their

mandatory and statutory training is current. The post holder will be expected

to contribute to the principles of our CARE values.
