This role is for an experienced Emergency Nurse to join the dynamic Emergency Department team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse. You will lead shifts, manage staff, and ensure high-quality emergency care for a large patient population. The position involves supporting senior nurses, line managing junior staff, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
- Level 2 Trauma Course - University/ATNC/TNCC/ETC
- A&E Course/Capital Nurse QIS
- Degree
- Completion of RCN level 1 and Level 2 Competancies. Completion of NMTNG Level 2 Competencies.
- ALS course
- Triage trained
- Substantial experience in Emergency Nursing - part of which might be at Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse level in an acute Emergency department.
- Leadership experience - leading clinical areas without supervision
- mentoring and supporting junior staff
- Communication
- Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
- Personal And People Development
- Demonstrates evidence of professional development in line with KSF, maintains updated Portfolio
- Demonstrates an awareness of the role of preceptor/facilitator
- Reflective in Practice
- Quality
- . Demonstrates understanding of principles of Clinical Governance, e.g. Risk Management, audit & quality
- Provision of care to meet health and wellbeing needs
