Role summary

This role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating oral health education and intervention programmes across Teesside. The post holder will work with various community groups, schools, and partner organisations to promote positive oral health messages and reduce inequalities. It requires a qualified dental professional passionate about improving oral health outcomes.

Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures
  • Computer literacy i.e. a good working knowledge of various Microsoft packages is desirable
  • Able to exercise own initiative in developing oral health promotion projects
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Ability to maintain stock levels
  • Qualifications & Training
  • Qualified Dental Nurse with the National Certificate in Dental Nursing or NVQ Oral Healthcare Dental Nursing Level 3 or Diploma in Dental Hygiene, or Diploma in Dental Therapy or appropriate degree level is essential
  • Certificate in Oral Health Education level 4 (accredited through NEBDN)
  • A Level 4 Teaching qualification eg: City and Guilds teaching certificate 7307 or L4 Certificate in Education and Training
  • The post holder will update knowledge in oral health promotion through continued professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Level 5 Certificate in Education
  • Knowledge of wider NHS initiatives
  • 2 years dental experience
  • Experience of / ability to deliver presentations or training sessions
  • The post holder will be able to work both independently using own initiative and as part of an effective team member
  • Competence in delivering presentations
  • The post holder will participate in and have an understanding of audit
  • Personal Attributes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Prioritise workload in order to complete tasks assigned
  • Be able to drive independently cross site throughout the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes

The Oral Health Promotion Department at University Hospital Tees is looking to recruit motivated individuals to join our dedicated team, helping to improve oral health outcomes across Teesside.

22.5 hours per week & 30 hours per week

We are seeking flexible, team-oriented professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality oral health promotion initiatives and engaging with a wide range of community groups and partners.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will plan, deliver and evaluate quality oral health education/intervention programmes to contribute to the strategic direction of oral health promotion across Teesside as requested by OralHealth Promotion Coordinator in line with the current work plan.

The post holder will work across the district of Teesside covering [contact details removed], Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland localities working with multi agencies to design, develop, support and evaluate the delivery of oral health education/intervention
