Role summary
This role involves providing a comprehensive, high-quality occupational health service to colleagues and external clients. Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist occupational health advice on fitness for work, sickness absence, rehabilitation and workplace wellbeing.
- Manage a caseload of employees with complex physical and mental health conditions.
- Undertake occupational health assessments and provide evidence-based management recommendations.
- Assess health conditions against the Equality Act 2010 and advise on reasonable workplace adjustments.
- Conduct pre-placement health assessments and advise on fitness for employment.
- Deliver health surveillance programmes and manage follow-up of abnormal findings.
Essential criteria
- Current registration with NMC
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health
- Previous experience of working in Occupational Health
- Experience of leadership and management
- Experience of working autonomously and as part of multidisciplinary team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Venepuncture
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and ethical issues
- Clear understanding of SEQOHS
Desirable criteria
- Post registration qualifications
- Immunisation and vaccination training
- Evidence of health promotion interventions
- Experience in managing sickness absence
- Experience with Occupational Health systems

Job summary
The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist will provide a comprehensive, high-quality occupational health service to colleagues across University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and external clients. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess fitness for work, undertake management referral consultations, provide evidence-based occupational health advice, and support colleagues health, wellbeing and attendance at work.
