Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join St Andrew's Healthcare in Birmingham. The role involves providing specialist evidence-based communication and dysphagia input to complex mental health patients. As the sole SLT on site, you will have ownership to make improvements and support vulnerable people with their communication needs. The successful candidate will be pro-active, accountable, and involved in service development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist evidence-based communication and dysphagia input to meet the needs of a complex patient group.
- Support the multidisciplinary approach to holistic, patient centred care and recovery within a specialty field.
- Advocate for patients with complex mental health and communications needs.
- Support some of the most vulnerable people with their communication and dysphagia needs.
- Be involved in ongoing service development projects.
Essential criteria
- BSc Speech and Language degree, or equivalent
- HCPC registered and RCSLT membership
- Ideally at least 1 year experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist

The Role & Person
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and compassionate Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our supportive team at St Andrews Healthcare in Birmingham.
We are committed to improving the quality and experience of patients in our care. We are looking for a SLT with some working experience, who is interested in developing their knowledge and skills working in complex mental health, and is passionate about advocating for patients with complex mental health and communications needs.
As the sole Specialist Speech & Language Therapist on site in Birmingham you will have real ownership to make improvements you feel needed and will be responsible for supporting some of the most vulnerable people with their communication and dysphagia needs.
