Role summary
This role involves leading an established Phlebotomy team at Cannock Chase Hospital, working 25 hours per week across five shifts. Responsibilities include a mix of administrative duties like rota input and staff training, alongside clinical venepuncture. The successful candidate will supervise staff, ensure optimal patient care, and contribute to a busy department with forward-thinking ideas. Cross-site working with New Cross Hospital is also required.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the collection of blood samples from patients aged 10 years and upwards.
- Undertake competency assessments of venepuncture procedures for new staff.
- Responsible for ensuring mandatory training is completed and managing daily sickness within the team.
- Participate in Team Leader and management meetings, and support necessary safety checks.
- Supervise a phlebotomy team and support the recruitment, induction, and orientation of phlebotomists.
Essential criteria
- Must be experienced in Venepuncture
- Must have experience in supervising/managing a small team
- Competent I.T skills
- Clinical phlebotomy experience (min 2yrs)
- Good level of education (including Maths and English)
- Flexibility within working shift pattern
- Good communication skills
- Approachable
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values
- Motivated and Enthusiastic
Desirable criteria
- Health care qualification
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Full clean UK Driving license
- NHS experience
- Knowledge of NHS systems

We are looking for someone to join and lead an existing established Phlebotomy team within Cannock Chase Hospital.
