Role summary
This role is for a motivated and compassionate Neonatal Outreach Sister / Charge Nurse to join the Neonatal Team. You will support the delivery of high-quality care for babies and their families both within the unit and through the neonatal outreach service. Responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, coordinating care, supporting junior staff, and assisting with discharge planning and home care for neonates.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery and maintenance of high standards of neonatal nursing care.
- Provide effective clinical leadership and act as a positive role model for the wider team.
- Coordinate care and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of babies and families.
- Support, supervise and develop junior staff and students through teaching, mentoring and clinical support.
- Assist with the management of staffing, resources and ward activity.
- Support timely and safe discharge planning for neonates transitioning from hospital to home.
Essential criteria

- Able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team within the primary and secondary care setting

- Up to date knowledge of issues affecting neonates and neonatal nursing
- Understanding of professional development
- Understanding of clinical governance responsibilities

As an experienced member of the neonatal team, you will help ensure the delivery of exceptional nursing care through the effective management of junior staff, resources and clinical standards.
