Role summary

This role is for a chef to join the catering team, responsible for providing patient meals. The successful candidate will ensure food quality and safety, adhering to hygiene legislation and Trust policies. It involves working 35 hours a week on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays, for a 6-month fixed term with potential extension. The chef will also assist with patient meal information and dietary requirements.

Essential criteria

  • City & Guilds 706/2 or equivalent (NVQ Level 3)
  • Recognised Catering and support services qualification or evidencable working knowledge and experience of Chef and catering services
  • Experience of quality monitoring of food production
  • Allergen awareness
  • Experience in cooking for large quantities including special diets/allergens
  • Experience as a qualified chef

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in ordering of supplies
  • Experience of working in an NHS catering environment
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Special diets, cultural/ethical menus, allergen awareness
  • Due diligence/HACCP
  • Knowledge of food legislation
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Training
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
  • Level 3 Food Safety certificate
  • Contractual Requirements
  • Comply to personal appearance standards and personal protective equipment (staff uniform)
  • To attend training as and when required on other sites within the Nottinghamshire NHS Trust

Job summary

We are looking for a chef to join our catering team on a 6 month fixed term basis with the potential of extending to 12 months. If you are someone who is hardworking and energetic with a passion for delivering quality freshly cooked, healthy, wholesome food to our patients, then we would love to hear from you.

The position is working over 7 days, 35 hours a week (including working weekends and bank holidays). Shifts are between 7.30am-3pm and 10.30am-6pm on a rota pattern.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the provision of the patient meals by undertaking specific outlined and approved processes and procedures to ensure the quality and food safety of meals at service are safe and appropriate and within the guidelines of food hygiene legislation.
