This role is for a Qualified Paramedic within the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, providing emergency care across London. Successful candidates will work on an 'Overlay Roster' for at least 12 months, which involves a higher proportion of unsocial hours to support operational resilience. Key responsibilities
- Be accountable for the assessment, treatment, diagnosis, supplying and administering of medicines, managing, discharging and referring patients in a range of urgent, emergency, critical or out of hospital settings.
- Provide effective clinical leadership, development and mentorship to operational personnel, including newly qualified paramedics and students.
- Contribute to the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of unscheduled/out of hours care.
- Undertake the full range of paramedic duties in line with the Trust's operational instructions.
- Carry out paramedic duties commensurate with national clinical practice guidelines and Trust specific PGDs and guidelines.
- Responsible as an autonomous practitioner using local care pathways associated with local initiatives promoting see and treat.
Essential criteria
- Full manual driving licence, valid in the UK including vehicle categories C1 and B (not B auto.) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- HCPC registered Paramedic.
- 2 years post registration experience in clinical practice, or less if progressed through the national fast track programme.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in complex, contentious and sensitive situations.
